Nvidia beats $96B, Meta settles $16.7B, Lake America, Ebola peaks

Nvidia's Q2 fiscal 2027 (ended July 26): revenue $96.2 billion, up 106% YoY and 18% QoQ, beating the $92B consensus by $4.2B. Data center revenue hit $89.0 billion, up 117% YoY, exceeding the $85.4B estimate. Non-GAAP EPS of $2.22 beat the $2.09 consensus. GAAP and non-GAAP gross margins held at 75.0%. CEO Jensen Huang: "AI has reached its inflection point. Compute is revenue. And demand is accelerating." The S&P 500 closed at 7,676 (-0.01%); Nvidia surged after hours.

Data Center Is the Engine

Data center revenue of $89B represents 93% of Nvidia's total — a record fifth consecutive quarter of growth. Blackwell-architecture shipments are in volume ramp. Microsoft, Google, Meta, and Amazon AI capex cycles remain in full deployment. AMD's MI300X and Intel's Gaudi 3 have not closed the performance gap. Nvidia retains 80%+ of AI accelerator revenue share, unchanged through 2026.

Market Reaction

Nvidia pulled back over 1% intraday on sticky PCE inflation pressure before the print. After-hours surge confirmed institutional call-side positioning ahead of earnings. The SOX semiconductor index outperformed the S&P 500 for the week. The setup: markets were cautious, print was decisive.

Strategic Edge: Export Control Dividend

US export controls have blocked Chinese firms from H100, H200, and Blackwell. PRC AI labs operate on chips one to two generations behind. Every new Nvidia generation widens the gap. The lockout converts American export policy directly into Nvidia's pricing power in the rest of the world — a structural advantage with no sunset clause.
$96.2B. 106% growth. The Fed's rate decision does not bend this trend line.
